In understanding codes, we can deconstruct them.

Studying Sacred Geometry at the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts, Advanced Level Arabic, and Grade 5 Classical Music, these learned codes and patterns, become the base of the work. First, simple geometric rules like the point and the circle are constructed, then the scripts and notes that follow are improvised through poetic spontaneity, deconstructing patterns that can eventually be recoded and reprogrammed; revealing hidden mysteries.

CONSTRUCTING:

“Constructed Viewpoints”

Dimensions: A4 / A3 / A2
Materials: sketch paper 95g/m2

Investigating the Fibonacci sequence, decoding symbols to arrive at the Venus Pentagram, formulating her installation concept “1001 gazes.”

unraveling a secret code:

the cave of silence
where is the centre point?
intermittent pathways
the reflective gaze
who is the other?
who becomes the other?
is there dissolution?

1001 gazes
10x10x10= 1000 + 1

DECONSTRUCTING:

“Dancing hexagons, whirling scripts, shifting baselines”

Dimensions: A4 / A3
Materials: sketch paper 95g/m2; tracing paper 60g/m2.

A form of journaling - 5 mins visual poems - these sketches start with the musical clefs, then the point, the circle, and then whatever else unfolds: a series of nonsense musical annotations, beats and notes that find themselves enveloped in each other, nonsense calligraphy - symbols interlaced together devoid of any literal meaning.

LAYERING:

“Layers of perception : revealing, unveiling”

Dimensions: A4 / A3
Materials: sketch paper 95g/m2; tracing paper 60g/m2.

Each layer, proposed as a refractional perception of itself. Experimenting with layering and then unlayering, unveiling, and revealing.
